VINTAGE 2024

“RESILIENCE”

COMPANY HARVEST NUMBER 60 – MAURO SIRRI’S HARVEST NUMBER 41

Dear Friends,

it seems to me that, since 2019 (the last year I can consider “almost normal”) we have been living in a challenging era, that has put common people and companies’ resilience to the test.

I forecast a thrilling year and let me tell you what happened inside our company in 2024: 6 workers out of 12 had serious health problems and needed hospitalization.

I want to pay tribute to NOUREDDINE MAAMAR, who passed away after a heart attack. He was a skilled professional and a cheerful, nice person, we will miss him.

Our company has demonstrated high levels of resilience all over the year: the production cycle was completed in time, with excellent results and good product quality.

For this reason I want to thank our team: in particular, ANDREA PERUGINI who gave his soul for growing healthy and juicy grapes; GIACOMO SENSINI, young winemaker who was in charge of the cellar and winemaking activities for the first year and obtained very interesting results. Everybody contributed with much effort to the company goals: ALEX CASADEI, PONI ANDREA, GIULIA MANTINI, MONIA SARTONI,

DANILO TASSINARI, GENNARO NOVELLI, LIDIA CANGINI, SPADOLA ANNA MARIA and the office workers SONIA VENTRUCCI and STEFANIA MAZZA. Last but not least, EMANUELE CASADEI, ready for retirement, but precious help in this transition.

WEATHER REPORT

It is getting harder to forecast weather, we noticed that extreme events take place quite often. In 2024 we had dry winter, dry spring and, after that, heavy rainfalls in May and June: this situation slowed down the necessary work to be done in the vineyards and exposed vines to the risk of mildew.

Anyway, our organically managed vineyards had positively faced this challenge, thanks to attentive care and informed actions we took.

In July temperatures rose suddenly, reaching almost 40 Celsius degrees (104 °F) during the day. This caused water stress in some vines, with partial loss of the bottom leaves. High temperatures continued until mid-August, when it rained quite a lot and the ripening level of grapes slowed down.

We harvested Chardonnay grapes on 12th August and at the end of August both white and red varieties were ripe simultaneously: we worked hard to pick up grapes as soon as possible. This was the right decision because from 15 to 19 of September it rained non-stop (almost 300 ml!) and we had saved all the yield. The last variety to pick was PAGADEBIT that has strong skin and does not fear bad weather. Its name tells his story!

We will never forget harvest 2024…but each vintage is a story to live and to tell…till next time, dear friends!
